

The photographer
Helga Kneidl, born 1939 in Dresden, was a dancer on many Gerna stages in the 60ies. From 1969 to 1970 she had a formation as a theater photographer at Leonard Zubler in Zurich. Aferwards in 1970 she went to the playhouse in Berlin.
From 1972 to 1978 Helga Kneidl was a house photographer at the Berlin playhouse, took over work orders for the Schiller- and Gripstheater. She was also under contract with Ivan Nagel at the Hamburg Schauspielhaus and additionaly worked in Zurich and Rotterdam.
1973 Helga Kneidl travelled to Paris with her friend Christiane Höllger and portrayed Romy Schneider.
1979/80 she worked on a movie about New York. From 1980 to 1996 she worked at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus again. In the 80ies she portrayed Joseph Beuys, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Heiner Müller and Erland Josephson among others.
She is a frame photographer in Blumenberg movies, Senf and Vielsmeier. Additionaly there are many publications in newspapers, magazines and books.
Since 1997 Helga Kneidl is living in Berlin and is working in the portrait area. She is married with two children.
